JILL BARNETT sold her first book to Simon & Schuster in 1988 on 50 pages and a synopsis, and has gone on to write thirteen novels and five short stories. There are over 7 million of her books in print. Her work has earned her a place on such national bestseller lists as the New York Times, USA Today, Washington Post, Publishers Weekly, Barnes and Noble and Waldenbooks—who presented Jill with the National Waldenbook Award.

AM Session I & II: "How To Write a Synopsis That Sells"
An in-depth session on how to capture and sell your story in an outline. What should be there and what shouldn’t. Options on structure and pointers on how to introduce backstory, show escalation of conflict, character and key plot points.

PM Session I & II: "What to do when you’re stuck"
A craft and technique workshop with a variety of tips, steps, and exercises which you can use to overcome blocks, creative lapses, and motive problems. Jill Barnett knows about creative blocks. She had to overcome a huge one after her husband died. Through hard work and these techniques, she found her way back to a renewed love of writing, more efficiently than ever before. Learn how to control your muse and your writing, learn the value and multiple use of strong character arcs, all about conflict and story dynamic, along with how to block the drafting of scene and structure, motive and character truth, all of which can keep you happily writing until The End.

BARBARA SAMUEL has made her way by writing since she was 18 years old. Since then, she’s won a wagonload of awards, including five RITAs from Romance Writers of America, including one for Lady Luck’s Map of Vegas in 2006, a book that was then selected to be a Target Breakout book. A popular columnist and writing teacher, Barbara loves travel, conversation and good books.

AM Session I: "The Power of YOUR Writer’s Voice"
Join Barbara Samuel for this hands-on workshop on discovering the elements that make your voice unique.

AM Session II: "What do you order at Starbucks?"
Delving into the details that create powerful characters.
